When ‘life’ performs, audience applauds
If you are a hardcore Rajnikanth fan then you shouldn’t have missed the performance of Hindi rock music band Life, last fortnight. With Vikalp Sharma and Mangalam Prashant on the vocals and guitar, Chaitanya Bhaidkar as the lead guitarist, Anupam Grover on bass, and Mukendra Markandey on the drums; Life wooed the audience with their original tracks ‘Anjana’ and ‘Barso’ and a medley of Atif Aslam’s songs.
With crazy lyrics like ‘Superman ki leta hai class, Shaktiman ka bhi hai ye baap, Batman ko kahe titlee aur spidy ko samjhe woh makadee’ the band dedicated the song to the Tamil superstar. The audience, sceptical at the beginning, later enjoyed every bit of the song.
Sole drummer Mukendra Markandey said, “We are all big fans of Rajnikanth and can never avoid singing a track on him which we have ourselves composed. Wherever we have sung this song the audiences have always enjoyed it. Most of our original compositions are most of the time a reflection of someone’s life. One of our compositions called ‘Baap ka Keher’ which we sang during our performance at Inorbit Mall is related to an event which took place in my own life. The song ‘Azadi’ which is a rock song was also enjoyed by many people which actually tried questioning the audience if are we really free today”
This five member band formed in 2010, were the winners of Channel [V] Launch pad a year after their inception. But the amazing response they received for their performance was overwhelming. “Our band started a year back and it has always been our aim to deliver music which the audience would enjoy. There is no point in playing a tune the audiences would not enjoy at all,” vocalist Mangalam Prashant said.
A mix of absurd lyrics and catchy tunes was the perfect combination in making this performance a super hit, mind it!
